Teaching Experience

Victoria has recently graduated from Trinity Laban Conservatoire with a First Class Honours degree with a 2 year specialism in teaching music. She is still largely based around the Greenwich, Lewisham and Blackheath areas but takes students from any part of London or online. Victoria enjoys all genres and can play and teach anything from contemporary to Baroque. She also regularly plays other instruments in the flute family (Piccolo, Alto flute and Bansuri) as well as recorder, clarinet, saxophone and piano.

From a young age, Victoria was involved with teaching others and sharing her love for music, leading flute ensembles at her school and helping younger students with their studies.

Previously, Victoria has participated in a collaborative arts projects in a local special needs secondary school. She went in once a week to work with them on their music and creative skills which culminated in a performance at the end of the term. She has also recently been part of Sound Connection's inclusivity in music education programme looking at making sure music is accessible and enriching for all students no matter their abilities or backgrounds.

Victoria has over 5 years experience teaching one-to-one private tuition with varying ages of student all the way from age 5 to retirement. She currently teaches a mixture of flute, recorder and piano and tailors every lesson to the individual's needs. She has also previously entered her students for ABRSM and Trinity exams (from Grade 1 to ARSM Diploma), in which they attained very high grades.

Victoria is currently part of the Lewisham Music team and has taught across 4 different primary schools in the Lewisham borough. She teaches a combination of whole class recorder, small group flute and small group clarinet as well as private woodwind tuition. Over the terms, she hosts mini concerts for her students to share their progress with parents and friends.

On top of this, she teaches numerous courses at Blackheath Conservatoire - Roundabout, Play! Flute, Flute Choir as well as her own holiday courses and family concerts. Please see the projects page for more information on upcoming holiday courses at Blackheath Conservatoire.

Learning Through Fun

Lessons should work for the individual student - it can be far more effective and fun to learn through musical games!

Reviews

"I have been delighted with the confidence and progress that I have achieved. I have taken ABRSM grades 3, 4 and 5, and I am now working on grade 6 with Victoria. She has a lovely manner, is very supportive and reliable. I am learning to play the music, rather than just play the notes. Thanks Victoria!"

"Victoria started as my flute teacher back in 2019. In 2021 she still teaches me on-line twice a week.
Victoria has always been highly professional in her teaching style. She is able to adapt to an individuals strengths and weaknesses.  In my case, as a self taught flute player with a background in folk music, I was quite competent at music in the keys of G, D and F major, but no ability at all in music theory.  Victoria works out lessons which are giving me a better understanding of music fundamentals, then I hope to return to the Flute and understand more of its true potential."

"Megan and Victoria impressed me with how organised and entertaining their workshops are. It was great to see how engaged the children were!"

"Victoria always arrives on time, gets ready during playtime and has something playing as the children enter the room.
She has lots of activities for the class to take part in during the lesson and uses lots of visual resources and games.
I feel the children are progressing very well in their lessons."
- Whole Class Recorder, Teacher Review

"I just wanted you to know how great my daughter thinks her new flute teacher is, she has got the children engaged (without shouting), and oh my goodness, she has learnt far more in the first six weeks than the past 12 months... she even gets a homework book too!"
